UPDATE June 2, 2009
Talked to Dylan today. They removed the tumor successfully. He's at home with his family and he's exploding with positivity.
He's excited to begin his road of recovery and he thanks everybody for all their support these last few weeks.
I know he's still going to need all the help he can get as Dylan and his wife will be out of work for a while.
Thanks again for all your donations.

Jalamanta was recorded February 1999. To celebrate the anniversary, we're re-pressing it on vinyl. It'll be re-mastered directly from tape, pressed on 180 gram vinyl, deluxe packaging, with a 24 page book with lyrics and liner notes! The first 500 will be signed and numbered by Brant! I'll announce when it goes on sale. Until then, check out this documentary we made about the making of the album. It's a pretty big file so it takes a little while to load but well worth the wait. -Cale Check it out |

It’s not often that we release music from other artists. Brant decided to release these albums simply because they rock and he thought the world should know. Get both LP’s & CD’s for a great price! |
If you're still waiting for you SOK order, we should be getting another shipment any day. Sorry for the delay. They went fast! |

Yesterday I turned 36 years old. Do I feel old? Not really. Only after I’ve been up for two days drinkin’ do I actually feel old. On the mornings I wake up without a hangover I actually feel pretty good. However...I do remember reading an interview with the Ramones when I was about 14 years old, maybe 15. Anyway, I was in high school. I don’t remember the source...might of been Thrasher Magazine. The interview was with Dee Dee Ramone. I remember this particular interview because he mentioned that he was 36 years old...and I thought he was fuckin’ old! Now I’m 36 and in a couple months, if all goes as planned, I’ll be playin drums, doing some shows in Europe with CJ Ramone, the dude who rightfully took Dee Dee’s place after he left. I think Dee Dee left the Ramones about a year after this interview. My facts could be wrong but Its the feelings that count. Ain’t that a trip? Back when I was 15 I wouldn’t of thought I’d be doing that. But that’s the way shit works, huh? Magic.
I got a lot of nice messages regarding my birthday on Myspace...thank you to all those who went out of their way. My B-day is march 19th...And I slipped into this world in the year 1973. I think the Wikapedia thing says I was born on march 16th. But oh well. Maybe I’m wrong since computers seem to be the “end all” of the “new world”. I’m not bitter at the rise of the digital revolution. Just a little exhausted.
So I woke up today feeling pretty good. Had fairly nice dreams. I think I finally kicked my jet lag from our tour down in Australia and New Zealand. It’s a trip...going there I was fine, no problem. Comin’ home....I started to doze off at 8:30. The other night, woke up a 5 in the morning. Anyway, I was laying in bed thinking about this book I bought while I was at the airport in Sydney. When I have a 14 Hour flight ahead of me I always load up on the reading material. So I got this book called Meatball Sundae, by a dude named...um, cant remember. I’ll have to get back to you on that one...or shit...just Google the title. So I’m laying in bed thinking about this book. Its a good book. Its about the current state of the world regarding the Internet, what it has done to business, culture, etc. And what it will continue to do in the not so distant future. And, how we can deal with It. What’s that self-help saying? You cant stop the waves...but you can learn to surf? Yeah...that’s kinda what this book is all about. So I’m laying there thinking about this and I couldn’t help but feel a little depressed. It wasn’t a bad depression...in fact it might be better described as a frustration. Why? Well, simply because I am most likely part of the last generation to grow up in the old-world. The old school. Whatever you want to call it. We grew up with 13 channels on TV, phones with cords and computers was just some lame class you had to take at school that you probably ditched half the time. But in 2000, while we were smokin’ doobs watchin’ Spinal Tap...the world wide web crept into the mainstream and I mean for good. The writer of this book calls it the 4th great revolution...the industrial revolution being the third. In other words, this thing changed things and those things aren’t gonna change back. So if you're thinking about tuning in turning on and dropping out...you are definitely gonna drop out. Way out. Believe me...I thought about it.
So the conclusion of my thoughts was this: magic doesn’t exist anymore, mystery is out of style and the trimmings are more in demand than the steak. Hence the dude’s book title...Meatball Sundae. See, In the old world, the steak was what it was all about...now its all about the steak sauce. The Sundae. Lets take this perspective right in to the world of music since that’s how I make a living...barely. Music is a commodity like anything else in business. Its supply and demand...packaged up, marketed, promoted, and sold to a consumer. This paradigm has been happenin’ for over 100 years. But this ain’t the trip anymore. Its a whole new thing now. Today a 13 year old kid has the whole fuckin’ world at his finger tips. The dose is super high now. See, you can't just make Zeppelin 4 today. You have to make zeppelin 4 the recording. Then you have to make the Making of Zeppelin 4, then you have to release the out takes of Zeppelin 4 etc. OK. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. There are artists/bands that I have gotten into because I read a book about them and then went to the music having a more open mind due to information and semi-fact. That’s cool. But just to play devil’s advocate, which, where I come from in the desert, is common practice. It seems that the magic and mystery of rock-n-roll is becoming a lost art. Bands like Zeppelin were untouchables...unapproachable. Myths and living legends. Rightfully so. What you didn’t know about Zeppelin was as important as what you did know. Dig? And as I’ve said before...I was listening to Black Flag for 2 years before I ever had a proper record and ever even saw a picture of the band. See...the art...the music Itself was the cornerstone. It was the sound and energy of the music that separated Black Flag from Zeppelin. And not necessarily one better or more important than the other. Mystery and reality surrounded both. But both bands left much to the imagination when one approached they’re music/art. I could learn more about a band in 10 minutes today than I could in 10 years back in the day. Good or bad? I guess is really doesn’t matter. So its info that “they” want. OK. Well I’ll work on givin’ it to ya. I just want people to understand the generational gap between those who came up in the old world and those who never bought a record from a record store back in the 80’s. Its not that I don’t want to sit in front of a computer for 5 hours...It’s that I would never even think to do so. The computer...to me....was just a tool. A tool for communication, a radical phone. But I’m seeing now that it is...well...almost everything. And everything is what the people want. I've got a whole new understanding of this new world we’re living in. I’m not against it....I wouldn’t think to try and deny something so insanely powerful...but I want to approach it with more of an imagination. After all...I am an artist. I’m a right brainer... which is why the digital revolution caught me by surprise. Hey....art is all about communication. I dig this. And the internet is a serious road for communication. Shit...I’ve been in touch with people I haven’t heard from in 20 years this last few months.
I guess all I’m tryin’ to express is how overwhelming it all is. I’m stoked to be a musician/artist and to have people in this world back what I do. I really appreciate this...and for what its worth...I’ll do what I can in this great future to keep those who help support my career more stimulated...but its important that I continue to respect the “gaps”. You know...the music is the silence in-between the notes. Remember kids...although its pretty damn close....Google is not god. Right on. Brant Bjork |

Whats up everybody? Brant Bjork here. Welcome to our new trip from the old world...LOW DESERT PUNK. We are super stoked to get this thing launched and we thank you for checkin’ it out. Ok. So, heres the deal: My long-time vibe partner and soul brother, Cale Bunker and myself decided to really get to the grass roots and set up a new label that totally represents what we do, what we dig... and who we are. We all know that the music biz, on all levels, is a whole new game for not only the consumers but also for the suppliers and the creators. The technological take-over has brought some interesting changes to some of our day to day rituals. Some good. Some bad. Like everything. With Low Desert Punk, our thing is to get rad with the situation. First... LDP will be releasing ALL of my music... past, present and future... on all formats. Cd, digital and vinyl (right on) and can be purchased right here. Fatso Jetson, part of our desert family and longtime friends, will also have some of their new and old releases available here at LOW DESERT PUNK. And just to make things super rad...Cale and I decided to pay tribute to our vinyl roots by presenting what we feel are classic rock artists/bands that should be heard on wax and should have prime parking in every record collection. We got Black Flag to Funkadelic...So make sure you bounce around the site and check out the stock. It's heavy. Of course, it's all about the music...but we will be selling merch as well. T-shirts, hats, stickers, frisbees...(just kidding) and other stuff of the kind. Anyway... thats the deal. Make sure to keep checkin’ the site for all updates and tour info. We’re gonna also add other classic records as we roll so... Alright. Stay tuned...and thanks for helping us “take the music back”. Brant Bjork |
